2 hour class “Mastering the Art of McTavishing”
    This is for anyone who quilts on a machine, domestic, long arm, short arm, etc. Karen, with her natural sense of humor, will show how she got started, as well and how easy it is. This is a great background pattern for a quilt block that is elegant, sharp and so different from stippling. This will be something you will use so often after learning her easy technique.

2 hour class “Custom Heirloom Quilting”
    This is one class you will NOT want to miss. Karen will take you through many different designs and show you when and where to use them best. Her technique is so easy to apply with your machine. Whether you have a domestic or one of the long arm machines, you will create some magic in your next quilting project.

1 hour class  “Victorian Feathers”
    Victorian Feathers are such an elegant and elaborate way of quilting. After this class, you will be able to accomplish and apply with ease to your quilting borders or blocks. When you use feathers in your borders for the first time, you will be so proud. Use of feathering hearts & feathering wreaths in your blocks will just come naturally.

1 day class  “We’ve Got ‘Em Surrounded!!”
    Explore possibilities for single or multiple border quilts. Learn to measure, design and draft pieced and appliquéd borders to fit your quilts. Four different categories of borders will be presented, including triangles, traditional blocks, vining, and swags. This is a drafting workshop – no sewing machine is required, though Barb will demonstrate freezer paper foundation piecing for a triangle border. We are not producing a project.

1 day class  "Sneaky Piecing Tricks"

    As we complete a small wall hanging we will learn the coolest shortcuts for the best piecing. While we’re at it, we’ll cover ergonomic rotary cutting, mastering the ¼" seam allowance, and the magic of clever pressing techniques. Even experienced piecers will learn strategies to improve their piecing technique.

She will teach you how to make various kinds of sweatshirts.  She is an exciting speaker and she bursts with enthusiasm.  Check out her website, it is fascinating!!  No machines needed.

1 day class  - “Wholecloth Design Class”
    This is an all day event, where no quilting machines are needed. This is a class which results in a large Wholecloth, which is entirely marked by the student and is ready for trapunto, hand-quilting, or machine quilting by the end of the class. This one day class is for anyone who would like to design an original Wholecloth from scratch. Karen will also have many Wholecloth quilts in the trunk show as well as a small lecture on the history of Wholecloth.

    What do you get when you mix a life long addiction to needle and thread, an inability to follow directions and a love of language? In Beth’s case that landed her a career in quilting. You’ll be inspired, take on those goals you’ve always thought were just beyond your reach. This includes a trunk show.

    Why do we quilt? Are we really trying to cover the world (or at least all the bed in our world) with our quilts? Or perhaps we quilt with an entirely different goal in mind. If finishing is a lifelong goal, or a dirty word, you will enjoy this talk. Includes a trunk show.

Lecture  - “Spontaneous Explorations in Color: Creating the Colorplay Series”
    Free your spirit as you “step outside the box”, and discover the secret language of “color interactions.” From her early inspirations in art and life, through the actual design process, she explains why every quilter needs a little “Color Wheel” every day, and what else she has learned along the way. See why Anne proclaims, “Working with colors energizes me!”
A slide presentation and trunk show of actual quilts will be included.

Lecture  - “Quilts My Grandmother Didn’t Make!”
Barb has been collecting quilts from the 30’s and 40’s because there are such wonderful stories surrounding that era in our history. And they look good, too!! This trunk show lecture will show off Barb’s collection of vintage quilts, vintage fabrics, the reproductions that came from them, and stories that may have inspired these wonderful quilts!! Handouts will be provided with a quilt pattern from the 30’s as well as a couple of recipes from the era.

Lecture  - "High Tech Meets High Touch"

    Watch Barb demonstrate the "Magic" of designing a quilt with computer software. You don’t have to have any computer experience to be awed by the ease of creating designs that you probably wouldn’t draft on paper!! Barb has become a practiced expert in using EQ6. She will have her computer and a video projector to demonstrate how she creates quilts that go beyond the ordinary. Barb will also have a trunk show of quilts she has made from design she created on EQ software.

Lecture  -  “From Crazy Quilts to Fabric Fusion: Adventures of an Art Quilter”

    Prepare yourself for an exhilarating visual experience, as Anne shares her exciting evolution from an artist with a passion for sewing to an award winning contemporary Art quilter. Follow the development of her own personal style, as she incorporates traditional needlework values with modern techniques, a flair for improvisation, and a vibrant color palette. Anne’s quilts are infused with whimsy, with a flair for the dramatic. These are not anything like Grandma’s quilts! The lecture includes Anne’s most recent work, as well as a trunk show of quilts.     This class is suitable for anyone who would like to become more comfortable with choosing & using color. Learn to trust your intuitive color sense, with the color wheel as a guide. Students will experiment with the color chips & fabric backgrounds provided in the “Colorplay” Kit; using the fusible appliqué technique for fast, exciting results. Gain a new understanding of color interactions through these explorations. No sewing machines are required.

    This will be a great time to meet the teachers and have a nice boxed lunch with them, provided by Jennifer’s Garden. You will have the opportunity to chat and get to know each of them, ask questions and be entertained for an hour or so.

1-2 hours Lecture  - “Wholecloth & Trapunto”
    Karen will provide a lecture on the history of Wholecloth and trapunto, her techniques – Wholecloth and trapunto quilting, use of stencils, helpful techniques for hand-quilting effects for feathering, discussion of useful products, business topics to increase incomes and many question and answer opportunities, and she comes with her award winning trunk show and book signing opportunities.
